RUNNING TIME of the batttery
Ewincher's run time varies mainly according to the use you make of it and the size of your boat. Here are some examples of use with 1 charged battery on a Dufour 405:
With 10 to 15 knots of wind you can hoist the main sail 3 times, then tack 40 times while manoeuvring the genoa.
In the same way, it can allow you to hoist an 85kg crew member to the top of the mast 3 times (height of climb 14.50 m).
Do you need
one or two batteries?
The decision to opt for a second battery depends mainly on the size of your boat and your sailing habits. Generally, one battery is sufficient for more than one day's navigation on boats under 45 feet : so, a second battery is not necessary in this case. In the case of larger boats, a second battery may be useful, depending on your use. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to contact us.
Recharging the
battery
Charging time: 1h30
Recharging can be done both on board (12 V DC cigarette lighter socket) from the service batteries or from the shore power supply (110-220VAC).
Consumption on the 12VDC service batteries for full recharging (6 Ah), which is 1.5 to 2% of the capacity of a medium battery pack (370 Ah).

The battery is made of high quality lithium-ion cells. These are the same cells found on cars currently on the market. Its nominal voltage is 28,8 V (and functions beween 33,6V and 25,7 V).
For example, the batteries of traditional portable power tools have a nominal voltage of 18 V DC, which remains particularly insufficient for the most demanding maneuvers.

What is the battery
lifespan ?
1st factor:
Your Li-Ion is composed of cells that will deteriorate over time, regardless of their use. This "natural" deterioration process reduces the battery's capacity after 3 years, as a general rule. In most cases, battery replacement is not considered until the fourth year.
2nd factor:
The lifespan test that we have conducted on Ewincher batteries show that a loss of capacity only appears after 300 full charge and discharge cycles. If the battery is used on a 40 footer, and only ½ of the maximum battery charge is used in a day of sailing, this means that the battery will provide at least 600 days of sailing before it starts to lose capacity!
Battery maintenance
advices
After a day's sailing, even if your battery is not empty, it is advisable to fully recharge it.
Ewincher will then be fully operational for its next use. And most importantly, this is the best way to preserve the battery. During the wintering period, recharge your battery fully and stow it in a dry place.
